Athena Integration Pre-Requisites
To begin an integration between RSI and Athena, you will need to collect the following:
Prerequisites
- RSI Client- this is provided by RSI
- Athena:DepartmentIds (provided by Athena)
- Athena:PracticeId (provided by Athena)
- Database Start Date (provided by client)
Locating Your Athena:PracticeId
Your Practice ID is a unique numerical identifier for your entire practice within athenahealth.
- Log in to your athenaNet account.
- Click on your user/clinic name, typically located in the top-right corner of the screen.
- The Practice ID will be displayed in the menu that appears, often next to the practice name or in parentheses.
- Alternatively, the ID is often the first number appended to the URL in your browser’s address bar after logging in.
If you are unable to locate it using these methods, you may need to contact your athenahealth representative for assistance.
Locating Your Athena:DepartmentIds
Your Department IDs are specific identifiers for each physical location or organizational entity within your practice where providers see patients.
- Log in to your athenaNet account.
- Click the Settings (gear icon) in the main menu.
- Under the Admin heading, select Billing.
- From the left-hand menu, click Departments.
- A table listing all your departments will be displayed. The column labeled ID contains the Department IDs for each location.
- You can typically download this list as an XLS or CSV file to easily share with your third-party integration partner.
For integration purposes, be sure to provide only the IDs for the active departments that will be relevant to the third-party service.
